What are the system requirements for running MediaFiler?

MediaFiler will work on any PC with any version of Windows. MediaFiler only requires about 30MB of disk space and minimal amounts of RAM and processor speed.

What if I already have list of all my tapes?

MediaFiler can import your existing database if you can convert it to a standard Microsoft Excel file.

What other software does MediaFiler need to run?

MediaFiler is a stand-alone program that does not require any other software to run, but your data files are fully compatible with many other software products so you can use programs like Microsoft Access, Excel and Word to create an infinite number of customized functions to meet any special needs you may have! MediaFiler is designed to be deceptively simple for most users, but robust enough to meet the demands of power-users.

Can MediaFiler be run on a network?

Yes, MediaFiler can be used on networks. However, you must purchase or upgrade to the MediaFiler Network version. With network licensing there is no limit on the number of users allowed to use access the database.

Will MediaFiler use the same numbers that I already use to identify my tapes?

Whenever you add tapes to MediaFiler, or import an existing list, MediaFiler automatically assigns them unique, sequential ID numbers that cannot be changed. However, MediaFiler has a data field called "Alt. No." that can be used for any other identification number that you may have used in the past. It is just as easy to sort, search, and filter records by the "Alt. No." as it is by the new ID Number.

What MediaFiler alternatives are there in this price range?

None. There's nothing else like MediaFiler.

Do I have to buy blank labels from Vortex Media?

No. In fact we don't even sell labels. MediaFiler uses common Avery labels that can be purchased at most office supply stores. Compatible labels can also be purchased from Polyline and Viking at about 1/3 the cost of Avery labels.

Why does MediaFiler have so many different ways to view the data?

MediaFiler offers three different screens to use, because each one is better for certain tasks. However all of them can be used for editing data, adding files, deleting files, and searching at anytime.
